RSS is the solution many people don't know they need.¹ There are lots of sources I would not consume if they'd not provide an RSS feed.

And one can build stuff on top.

Oh, and you can follow any Mastodon account via rss too (just try https://social.tchncs.de/@Lapizistik.rss ).

¹technically one could argue that pull vs push creates overhead but that's not the point here
