@perspektivbrocken @dw_innovation
Indeed!
@dw_innovation well RSS is on point.
Exactly what is needed, no additional bullshit.
@dw_innovation und mit dieser Möglichkeit könnte #DW in 0,nix einige Accounts im #Fediverse starten
Könnt Ihr da nicht mal mit Euren Kolleg.innen reden?
Danke 👍
That's the way to go!
@dw_innovation the timestamps in your feeds might be broken, Simple RSS Widget on Android isn't finding them.
Ah just realised it's not RSS it's RDF which is why it's not being parsed by the RSS reader.
#RSS is quite adequate and without all the noise!
@dw_innovation
Many countries have a channel in English language. #DW is the German channel, #France24 is the French one, #TRTWorld is the Turkish one, etc.
Their usual standards are to give reliable news (verified). But aggregates of verified information can lead to misinformation and influence ... sometimes for the worst.
(see #FranceInfo channel example, autotranslate)
-> Do you have any example of this kind for Deutsche Welle (DW), and how would you rate DW ?
RSS is great! Don't be ashamed of it, it's a good way of reading news!
@dw_innovation
RSS is the solution many people don't know they need.¹ There are lots of sources I would not consume if they'd not provide an RSS feed.
And one can build stuff on top.
Oh, and you can follow any Mastodon account via rss too (just try https://social.tchncs.de/@Lapizistik.rss ).

¹technically one could argue that pull vs push creates overhead but that's not the point here
@dw_innovation Most of the internet relies on a pyramid of technologies that arent "cutting edge"
And the things that claim to be "cutting edge" are often people misunderstanding a technology & then misapplying it
Like how people seem to think blockchains, or LLMs are solutions to problems that never existed, or incorrect application creating a myriad of new problems b/c lack of fundamental understanding
The cherry on-top is the people competent enough to properly apply tech don't get funding
It's been a while since there has been a "cutting edge" worth cutting oneself on tbh, at least on a large general-public visible scale.
@ainmosni @dw_innovation absolutely, the problem is the tech industry, especially the one in California, heavily relies on not the product, but fantasies of what a technology could potentially provide
& since those projects where you rely on fantasy have higher upside, they get all the funding
This goes for everything from the robot vacuum to all the various misapplications of LLMs or blockchains (& of course, we could both likely keep listing other examples, but its not really worth doing so)
Yep, although I would say that blockchain marks the occasion where SV itself became subconsciously aware that they were out of actually useful ideas and began pushing stuff that really, absolutely, nobody really wants.
"RSS is not cutting edge"? 😆
How can creating my own personal newspaper, delivered regularly straight to my inbox, without opening a browser, exactly when I want it, without needing any accounts, passwords or emails, not be cutting edge?!
#RSS is state-of-the-art 😜
