The worst case scenario for a Canadian trying to enter the US used to be that you could be denied entry, and have to go home, travel plans in ruins.

The worst case scenario now is to be arrested without charge, held in an ICE detention facility in chains, and then shipped off to a concentration camp in El Salvador.

Should make you think twice.

@DavidM_yeg A good moment to have a thought for the people from the global South. They've have experienced forever what Canadians and Europeans are just discovering. Not just by US immigration, but generally.
Disclaimer. I am a white Mexican with an EU passport so fairly free from that burden, but many friends have had it rough in the US.
@dacig @DavidM_yeg I remember the testimony of an ex colleague, a white Spaniard with Spanish passport, being arbitrarily detained for hours, and verbally abused, as he was coming back from Spain to the US, where he lived, since he worked, of all things, as a Google engineer. It made me think I'd probably think twice about visiting the US again. That was at least 10 years ago. With things as they are today... No chance I'll book a trip there! The US tourism industry just died.
