This Is My Glasgow

The vaulted ceiling above the pavement as it passes through the Tron Steeple in Glasgow. The steeple was built in the early 1600s, but the arches which let pedestrians pass underneath it weren't added until the 1850s.

What does trongate mean? I think "trongate" is part of the address where the Sharmanka Theatre is. . .

@FallsMom The Tron qas an official weighing device uses to determine how much money people needed to pay to bring certain goods into the city to be sold. The gate was, literally, one of the gates into the city. So the Trongate was the gate where the Tron was and where goods could enter to be sold. Similarly, the Gallowgate was the gate where the Gallows were sited.
