After multiple instances of longer detainment of tourists by ICE, both the UK, Germany, and Denmark now warn against traveling to the US. While Germany and the UK has general warnings for all tourists, Denmark specifically warns about being trans and traveling to the US.

It is likely we will see a significant drop in US tourism this year.

@randahl Believe me, us trans folk are WELL aware of this. We’ve being saying it for YEARS, so this is less “the Danish government providing a warning to trans people” and more “everyone ignored trans people, things got gradually worse, and now cisgender folks are starting to notice too”

@randahl Also, the word is “transgender” (or just “trans”), not “transgendered”. In the same way as we don’t describe people as “femaled”, “maled”, or “talled”.

@rvedotrc you are right. Unfortunately I have made this mistake a couple of times, because the incorrect form “transgendered” reminds me the most of the correct Danish term “transkønnede”.

I mean no offense — it is just an unfortunate linguistic coupling in my brain.

I have updated the post to use the term “trans”.
