Hello Fediverse and especially #Metalheads,

since I'm currently transitioning away from US companies, I'm wondering how you keep up to date with your favourite bands?

So many offer only Instagram, Facebook, X, ... on their official pages.

What are good sources to follow new releases?
Preferably on EU based platforms.

@tailtinn From these international #SoundCloud ( https://soundcloud.com/ ) is from Germany, but I would say that many countries have some local service like our #BandZone ( https://bandzone.cz/ ) in Czechia.

SoundCloud
@DqTube TIL that SoundCloud is German... I never questioned where they are located...
Thank you. I'll check it out.
@tailtinn @DqTube They may be a german company, but probably most of their hosting is AWS.

@hotte I see your point, but I'm not sure if I want to go down this rabbit hole (yet).

At first, I will try to avoid US companies as good as possible for my personal, direct use.
I'm moving my personal data to EU based services.
I'm trying to buy local or EU based first again to keep my own money within the EU.
I'm deleting as much accounts as possible on US platforms.

But AWS and Azure are so omnipresent, I think it's unrealistic to avoid every single service using them.

@tailtinn It is, but it's also important to make people aware of this omnipresence. When setting up the metalverse, I avoided AWS and Azure completely and de-federated threads. That's all I can offer.
