Capitalism isn’t opposed to authoritarianism.

It thrives under it.

Less democracy = fewer rules = more extraction = higher profits.

It’s not complicated.

Why Do Corporations Love Authoritarianism?

The least fun fact you're likely to read today: IBM helped the Nazis. Through its German subsidiary Dehomag, "Big Blue" custom-engineered Hollerith punch card machines specifically designed to meet the Third Reich's requirements for tracking, sorting, and processing human beings. These were specialized systems developed to enhance the efficiency of

westenberg.

@Daojoan
Remarkably clear

It felt like you were heading for “And here is how the corporations and dictators must be challenged to make them really fall”

But then I’m not sure what you mean by this last bit, after you say dictatorships fall:

“A system that rewards companies for enabling authoritarianism will inevitably and consistently produce authoritarianism.”

It’s more a restatement than a suggestion of a way forward?

Which the piece felt like it was headed for

Great work

@Daojoan this was great! Such an excellent resource using clear and comprehensible language ! Have you come across Kohei Saito before? His Slow Down: A Degrowth Manifesto is such a good discussion of an alternative insentive structure !
