#bookrecommendation wanted
I am looking for #gothic (horror) novels by contemporary authors. I don't care if the setting is historical (for instance Regency, Victorian or Edwardian) or contemporary.
I am NOT looking for generic horror, but books with a gothic horror feeling.
I already have some books on my wish list, but I'd love to get more recommendations.
Bonus points if the story has queerness.
If you have published such a book yourself, tell me about it.😀

@amalia12 Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia absolutely fits the bill. Silver Nitrate by the same author (possibly more of a horror-thriller, but I find the 'digging into the forbidden past' aspect pleasingly gothic). Witchcraft For Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix is a great new piece of Southern gothic. #gothic #GothicFiction #GothicLiterature
@crinolinerobot Thank you. 🙂
@amalia12 Mexican Gothic is probably the best of the three; it plays with classic gothic tropes while also interrogating the structural racism and sexism that underlay the genre at its birth. And it gets jolly frightening at times.
