Special shoutout to the repair site iFixit who are now on the Fediverse, you can follow them at:

➡️ @iFixit

They provide repair forums and free repair guides for phones, computers, consoles, kitchen equipment, tools, medical devices, cars etc. They also review and tear down new gadgets to see how repairable they are.

Repairing your existing stuff is much, much better for the environment than buying replacements.

@iFixit

It's really good to see you here! I think your site is a natural fit for the Fediverse 😃 Lots of people are fans of user repairs and DIY here.

If you ever fancy taking it a step further, you might consider putting some of your video guides on PeerTube? People can follow and interact with PeerTube videos from Mastodon and other Fedi platforms.

There's more info about publishing on PeerTube here: https://fedi.tips/how-to-publish-videos-and-audio-on-peertube

@FediFollows Agreed, the community here has been awesome!

Thanks for the well-written guide, that's a great suggestion. We'll see what we can do!

@iFixit is there a reason you haven’t verified your account against your website?

Honest question because I see this sometimes and then I don’t know how legit the account is. But maybe I’m missing something with this false sense of verification?

@8bit_PK Hmm, we've had this question before, and thought it might be an app/federation issue. It's verified, but it must not be showing for everyone.

@iFixit @8bit_PK Verified by pulling from their account directly. 👍🏽

But yeah, also not seeing it with the info from my server.

@iFixit interesting!

@wild1145 are you aware of this quirky federation bug where verified URLs don’t make it to all of the servers?

@8bit_PK @iFixit Hey, so it isn't a "Bug" as it were and it's by design with the nature of federation. Each side individually verifies (And regularly re-verifies) the links for link verification. It probably means there was a firewall or block on the site's end that stopped our processing job from confirming the verified profile link if I were to guess.
@8bit_PK @iFixit Just done some more digging, it looks like it isn't properly setup and verified which is why we can't verify it. It's likely it'll fail verification on mastodon.social at some point as well - https://mastodon-link-debugger.vercel.app/profile/@[email protected]
