Crap. I cracked my phone screen. Dropped it on tile. I never use a case - this is the FIRST TIME that I've ever cracked a screen and I've had an iPhone since the original one.

It's not a bad crack - just a line across the bottom right corner radius. I think probably only cracked the top layer? It seems to be still in there pretty firmly. Can hardly even see it.

Still though. Annoying. I'm still rocking an iPhone 14 Pro and feel no need to upgrade. BUT NOW IT HAS A CRACK... so now I'm not sure.

@bigzaphod It should be cheaper to replace the screen, if you decide you want to keep the iPhone 14 running.
@bigzaphod Get yourself a glass screen protector so it won’t spread and you won’t feel it.
@manolo @bigzaphod well now you can upgrade and get Apple intelligence!!!111one
@bigzaphod I’m on the same phone and the idea of the Air is tempting me

@bigzaphod

Statistics show that one is more likely to drop an iPhone than an Android.

I suspect there is alcohol involved.

I used to spend $$$$ on phones but always broke them within 6 months. I started limiting myself to $300 and now they never break. So I'm typically stuck with crappier phones untill I just decide to upgrade to another one
@bigzaphod no Apple Care+?
@tunafishtiger @bigzaphod Assuming they bought the phone near release (and didn’t take the option for monthly renewal at the end of the warranty term), 3 year AppleCare+ would be expired by now on an iPhone 14.
@bigzaphod back when I was wandering around Asia and Europe the most popular phone, by about a 3 to 1 margin, was the iPhone 6 with a broken screen.
@bigzaphod this is why you heathens need screen protectors even if you don’t use cases
@christianselig @bigzaphod I’m a believer in screen protectors, even though I prefer the feel without — just a couple of weeks ago it fell out of my coat pocket face down onto some pretty chunky gravel — destroyed the screen protector, but the phone is fine.

@bigzaphod Depending on how you like to buy your phones and your tolerance for “out of date” phones it’s worth looking into.

When I got my 15 Pro a year ago the 16’s were only six months away, but my carrier had this on for ~30% off, with another third deferred. When the term ends next spring I can either buy it out for the deferred amount, or turn it in and get one of the (likely discounted at that point) 17’s.

@bigzaphod I wouldn't be able to sleep at night 😬
