BC’s Measles Vaccination Rate Is Lower Than in Gaines County, Texas | The Tyee https://thetyee.ca/News/2025/03/14/BC-Measles-Vaccination-Rate/ “In Gaines County, Texas, where a #measles outbreak has killed one six-year-old and one adult, the measles vaccination rate among kindergarteners is just 82 per cent, according to reporting by The Atlantic.

That’s a higher measles vaccination rate than children have here in #BC. (1/2)

Just under 82 per cent of two-year-olds have gotten one dose of the measles, mumps and rubella, or #MMR, vaccine, and around 72 per cent of seven-year-olds have gotten both doses, according to the B.C. Childhood Immunization Coverage Dashboard’s 2023 data, which is the most recent data year available.” (2/2)
@auscandoc Why is our provincial health letting this go so far off the rails? No more vaccine encouragement to appease the ignorant but loud few?

@kinetix Vaccination is certainly encouraged.

Unfortunately, the pandemic taught us that there is a cohort that only thinks of themselves… and that that thinking is misinformed.

@auscandoc Perhaps I'm just not participating in the places where vaccination is being encouraged, for the most part. I kind of felt like the messaging was also pretty watered down as soon as Dr Henry started saying we were doing well with natural immunity (relating to COVID) and we should keep washing our hands.
