6.00AM - Woke up in a fit of panic a smoke alarm blaring out at . Rushed around the house bare skinned, in the dark, trying to find which alarm of the six installed it was. There was no fire, there was no smoke. Then couldn't get back to sleep for ages with all that adrenaline coursing through my body.

Why do these alarms always cause an issue at night. They never seem to go off for no reason during the day?

Certainly not good for an aging boomer like me.

@bananabob Smoke alarms go off when their batteries are failing too. It's a good prompt to replace them at least twice a year. We usually do it on Daylight Savings change weekends.
@Kay @bananabob Some brands also go off due to high humidity.
@CarolynStirling @Kay I have heard that insects can set them off by crawling over the sensor
