Have you figured out the best upload settings (resolution/file size/etc) for image quality? Very little information is found on the internet about what settings are ideal for Pixelfed to avoid too much compression.

@synestesia RAW format stores sensor data, but for bit. Any meaningful savings from compression comes from removing data. If you can manage it, shoot in RAW, edit in RAW, then export to a format fit-for-purpose… JPEG for websites/social media, HEIF/AV1 for high quality images using less space than JPEG (at a cost of more processing time), etc.
I always shoot in RAW. The problem is Pixelfed compression, like is there a resolution and size that looks the best when uploading to pixelfed? The help page doesn't have any instructions for uploading specs lol.

@synestesia Ah! Sorry, misunderstood…. It probably doesn’t matter how you upload it, it’ll likely be compressed by the server to save space (money) and bandwidth (money) and money (money).

🤓🥸😃

I wrote it in a confusing way haha. I wish there was some way to make it less bad, especially my red hair looks terrible!
