Postcode electricity pricing is a minefield for Ed Miliband

There is little middle ground in the battle over zonal pricing – and the energy secretary has only months to settle dispute

@ChrisMayLA6 And all deeply tangled into the questions of how you get industry back out of London and rebalance the country.

The AI data centre reference though is IMHO mostly nonsense. Data centres have a huge problem with renewables because they are a constant 24x7 steady demand. They are great base loads for stuff like nuclear but turning them off when it's not windy or sunny really screws with their RoI.
Hence I suspect the big interest they have in nuclear and geothermal right now

@ChrisMayLA6 Zonal pricing is better and fairer than the current scheme (not hard, seeing the oil companies wrote the current scheme for their benefit). Proposing a better scheme would be difficult when we don’t know how things will shake out.

Investors will cope with an evolving regulatory and contract environment (as they always say when it’s tilted in their favour).

More importantly, we need to focus more on reducing consumer price, and stuff datacentres.
