Feel free to leave a message, I waited on hold for 8 + 15 minutes to talk to a human (they answered after 8 minutes but hung up after 20s while I took a breath.)

I've let the representative know that it is unfair to prevent trans people from participating in society as their authentic selves.

And that ceding ground to fascists won't help him electorally.

I've also pledged to call his office every morning and talk to a real human until he apologizes.

You should also call your other democratic representatives and demand that they publicly comment on the Gavin Newsom's attack on trans kids.

I have called Mia Bonta, Jesse Arreguin, Lateefah Simon, and Adam Schiff.

These are his peers, these are people who are most able to hold him accountable in the short term.

Day two of calling the governor's office until he apologizes to the trans community.

They are still quite busy. The person on the phone tried to cut me off. But I threatened to call back immediately and to keep calling back until they listened to every word.

Keep calling. Keep emailing. Keep leaving messages. If you have the energy wait on hold for a person.

Make this expensive. Make it time consuming. Make his staff hate him.

Day 3 is done. Today I answered the governor's question "Why do we lose?"

Democrats like newsom consistently allow fascist propagandists like Charlie Kirk to drive the narrative around who the swing voter is and what they care about.

Betraying progressive values and driving a wedge between moderate democrats, progressive democrats and the rest of the left.

Later I'll be calling all my democratic representatives who haven't commented and urging them to comment. As well as the Lt Governor.

Preparing for day 4. A second episode of Gavin Newsom's shitty podcast has dropped. Michael Savage also blames trans rights (accepting trans kids specifically) for the loss of the 2024 election.

My first call to newsom's office today got sent to voicemail after 6 minutes on hold.

I've waited on hold for far longer than 6 minutes earlier in the week so that doesn't feel automatic.

Or maybe just me specifically. It's not like they don't have notes about me attached to my phone number by now.

It's pretty clear that he has no intention of not pandering to bigots.

Maybe he doesn't even want to be president maybe he just wants to join the ranks of supposed progressives who end up with a media career of pandering to bigots.

Either way it's clear he has little intention or capability to lead California in this current moment.

Today after briefly registering my complaint about newsom's podcast I left a message making sure whatever polisci new grad has to listen to these messages understands that I am not upset with them and that they have the hardest job in the Governor's office.

Just sent off my first FOIA requests to the governor's office for phone records and emails related to the podcast.

Today the governor's office picked up, same strategy as yesterday, briefly register complaint, thank the person for answering the phone, re-iterate that I hope callers are being nice to them personally and that they have the hardest job in the Governor's office.

Patiently waiting for responses to my FOIA requeests, and by patiently waiting I mean refreshing the muckrock page every couple of hours even though I know nothing will have changed.
