He was elected by a majority of voters in the state but the Republican legislature can override his veto because their district maps are designed to dilute democrats in their representation.

Barbara Monaco@Sheril There are people in every state who can't vote. That includes 77 million kids under the age of 18 and millions of adults with such severe dementia and other cognitive problems that it makes it impossible for them to function.
I hate to see the narrative that people in red states "deserve" adversity when our most vulnerable citizens have no voice in the matter.

On a state level, blue-state governors & legislatures do the progressive stuff that we can’t do now on a federal level.
Repubs kill biomedical research, weather service, etc?
→ Blue state universities pick up the slack.
Repubs axe Medicare?
→ Dems make blue-state-only single-payer system.
Trump screws vets?
→ Blue states invite them in [1].
Etc.
This’ll require higher state taxes [2].

…we won’t get our country back simply by getting more votes.
The #Trump Party won’t leave without violence.
So we may soon have a choice of civil war—the kind with shooting—or becoming what Trump calls “a shithole country.” With the former, we’re going to want as many vets on our side as possible.
It’s also why blue states need to start replicating former federal functions—so the machinery of government is in place if it comes to this.
[2] In any case, who wants #Musk helping himself to their federal tax $$$? Also, #Trump clearly intends to screw blue states on federal funds—originally funded by blue state taxes.
So Blue states should figure out how to keep federal taxes paid by their residents IN their states—maybe state-controlled escrow accounts. State takes its due (including $$$ for the aforementioned research, healthcare, state FEMA, etc), and sends the balance to DC…a year later.
