The #Mac Studio is a great machine but it isn’t a workstation until it has ECC RAM.
@shac how often does ECC actually do anything in practice? I’m unfamiliar
@unsaturated think way back to your B&I days. I can recall at least two OS builds that didn’t boot or behaved oddly due to single bit memory errors on the compile machines, which as you know were mostly janky old desktop machines. So it definitely happens it just isn’t always terrible when it does.
@ObjectiveT OH REALLY? I have forgotten or blocked that out but I believe it. The articles I dig up said like .06% error rate for non-ECC ram which has to be waaaay too high.
@ObjectiveT maybe it was .06% per batch for the particular batch given (like a days worth of compute). That would make more sense to me.
