I am 60, I am #Vegan, and I just learned how to make chocolate from scratch.

This has been kept from us. It is eye-blinkingly easy. The effort : reward ratio is beyond what you can imagine, because everything you can imagine starts and ends with chocolate.

Nestlé, Hershey, Mars you motherfuckers, now I know Kung Fu.

Edit: Adding the recipe I started with. Sorry I didn’t put it here in the first place, we learn. https://www.asaucykitchen.com/homemade-chocolate-with-cocoa-butter/#mv-create-recipe

@goodthinking You’ve inspired me to try making my own favorite candy bar (which allows me to source my own ingredients). ❤️
@helianthropy May I ask what that is? It’s okay if not. :)
@goodthinking Almond Snickers were what I’d settled on as my favorite, but the vegan equivalent only came in the peanut variety but doesn’t do the best job at ethical sourcing of ingredients.

@helianthropy Snickers! I used to love the OG ones in the beforetimes. Thank you — trying a copycat of that would be pretty ambitious for me, I’ll be staying in my lane with Mounds and Reese’s copies for now :-D

If you’re buying it pre-made, Dr Bronner’s makes a huge deal about their farming ethics, palm oil sourcing, and so on. Really expensive, but delicious.

@goodthinking I tried one of their chocolate bars. It didn’t really work for me. 😕
