LibreWolf team has joined Mastodon - Lemmy.World

cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/57174488 [https://lemm.ee/post/57174488] > Finally people will no longer be confused with this Lemmy community and accidentally post here.

Oh if only Proton could learn this power!
Unfortunately, the average Mastodon user is generally opposed to Trump apologists.
Proton has just left Mastodon, probably because too many people called them out on the CEO’s views.
Weird how the reaction is almost always “NUH UH BETTER DOUBLE DOWN REALLY HARD” and almost never “wow a lot of people think this why, maybe I should find out why”
Fully agree, but also after an event the extent that CEO did, that’s going to be held over their head for years to come. The easiest way to get it out of the air is stopping the constant engagement that’s encouraging it. Mastodon was a pretty large source of that.
Been a long time since I stopped finding that funny.

Not everyone succumbs to peer-pressure like you do.

Good on them. People like you need to understand that brow beating is not the way to get what you want.

Brb, I must warn my ancestors of 1789 that they should have overthrown the monarchy by discussing politely rather than by cutting off the king’s head and fighting his henchmen
This is what you got out of this? It’s not about peer pressure, it’s about not being a shitter for your community.

If they’re not happy, they can always go somewhere else.

You can’t please everyone.

Yeah! They were so close to start fixing things!

too many people called them out on the CEO’s views.

What views?

Proton Mail Says It’s “Politically Neutral” While Praising Republican Party

The “privacy-first” company surprised its user base when CEO Andy Yen lauded Trump on social media.

Should your company get a fedivers account?

Let’s look at the process:

Start | Are you a nazi or have shitty agendas? | If no, then yes, join.

The thing is Proton while a Privacy Focused Service is still capitalist. The Fediverse is designed to be an FOSS community so not going to be financially growing
Fun, I just downloaded their browser on one of my linux machines and I have been liking it so far.
I remember for some time following a LibreWolf community that was hosted on Lemmy from my Mastodon account and wondering why all the LibreWolf team was doing was reposting Lemmy comments (some of which I’d already seen on Lemmy). Then I figured out what was going on, now I know a lot more about ActivityPub. :D
Yep everyone can post everywhere. As long as its fedi!
we just need a foxkeh-ified version of the librewolf logo now
They also have an official Lemmy community btw: [email protected]

Lemmy.ml tankie censorship problem - feddit.nl

I feel like we need to talk about Lemmy’s massive tankie censorship problem. A lot of popular lemmy communities are hosted on lemmy.ml [http://lemmy.ml]. It’s been well known for a while that the admins/mods of that instance have, let’s say, rather extremist and onesided political views. In short, they’re what’s colloquially referred to as tankies. This wouldn’t be much of an issue if they didn’t regularly abuse their admin/mod status to censor and silence people who dissent with their political beliefs and for example, post things critical of China, Russia, the USSR, socialism, … As an example, there was a thread today about the anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre. When I was reading it, there were mostly posts critical of China in the thread and some whataboutist/denialist replies critical of the USA and the west. In terms of votes, the posts critical of China were definitely getting the most support. I posted a comment in this thread linking to “https://archive.ph/2020.07.12-074312/https://imgur.com/a/AIIbbPs [https://archive.ph/2020.07.12-074312/https://imgur.com/a/AIIbbPs]” (WARNING: graphical content), which describes aspects of the atrocities that aren’t widely known even in the West, and supporting evidence. My comment was promptly removed for violating the “Be nice and civil” rule. When I looked back at the thread, I noticed that all posts critical of China had been removed while the whataboutist and denialist comments were left in place. This is what the modlog [https://lemmy.ml/modlog] of the instance looks like: [https://feddit.nl/pictrs/image/6886b092-43d3-408b-ab57-2fa686f8a6c7.png] Definitely a trend there wouldn’t you say? When I called them out on their one sided censorship, with a screenshot of the modlog above, I promptly received a community ban on all communities on lemmy.ml [http://lemmy.ml] that I had ever participated in. Proof: [https://feddit.nl/pictrs/image/9c52e470-645f-46ba-ac1d-0b7d8be17af3.png] So many of you will now probably think something like: “So what, it’s the fediverse, you can use another instance.” The problem with this reasoning is that many of the popular communities are actually on lemmy.ml [http://lemmy.ml], and they’re not so easy to replace. I mean, in terms of content and engagement lemmy is already a pretty small place as it is. So it’s rather pointless sitting for example in /c/[email protected] [/c/[email protected]] where there’s nobody to discuss anything with. I’m not sure if there’s a solution here, but I’d like to urge people to avoid lemmy.ml [http://lemmy.ml] hosted communities in favor of communities on more reasonable instances.

I’m surprised they weren’t already on there.

It’s like 4 guys for the most part, so they may just have limited bandwidth.

Seems like they prefer more thread-focused conversations.
