The ADHD urge to buy a thing, watch all the videos about the thing, religiously track shipping until the thing arrives, excitedly open the shipping box to get to the thing, and then place the thing somewhere random and forget about it for 3-60 months.

@adhdjesse But wouldn't we put it somewhere and then forget about it?

@adhdjesse that's not ADHD that's called being an electronic music composer, and the thing is exclusively MIDI controllers, MIDI controllers as far as the eye can see

hold on my composer friends are letting me know they don't recognize themselves in this... oh no

@lritter @adhdjesse The next synth will finalize my sound. The next effect box will finalize my sound. The next drum machine will finalize my sound.

@ozzelot

@lritter @adhdjesse

[x] I'm in this picture, and I, etc.

@JuliaRez @lritter @adhdjesse This picture did not finalize my sound :/

Oblique Strategies to the rescue!

Probably.

@ozzelot

@lritter @adhdjesse

... wait, there was an Ableton plugin that worked on jpegs.

Oh god.

@lritter There's a reason why it's called Eurocrack!
@adhdjesse why you gotta call me out like this?
@adhdjesse slowly turns around to face my oscilloscope i never used ever
@Stellar @adhdjesse oh nice, now I want an oscilloscope too!

@adhdjesse I didn’t order a thing today. Yet. I’m waiting for someone else to order the last one in stock, so it becomes easier to decide that it’s more expensive than I want anyway.

(Thing is a bundle of three model kits of which I have one similar in my stash already plus a coffee table book about it.)

@adhdjesse it's not about the thing, it's about the journey.
@adhdjesse I’m very happy that the last part has been happening less and less to me the last few years, but it still sounds very familiar.
@adhdjesse my spouse does this with board games. It'll eventually arrive, we play it a couple times, then it goes into our board game storage room never to be seen again...
@adhdjesse The cure to is "running out of money".
@adhdjesse
Oh you actually manage to open the box? I've got a few unopened boxes from the last couple of years.
@adhdjesse Yes, yes, and tripple yes. I have done this so many times. One of which was with a $3000 laptop. Now I am using the verry same laptop as we speak, but I didn't lay a hand on it for about 6 months time.
@adhdjesse Digital media lacks the shipping details to focus on, but it's much easier to forget it after you paid for it and downloaded it.
@adhdjesse it’s like you really see me😂

@adhdjesse hey shut up I needed that thermal paper printer for reasons.

I don't remember them or where it is now but uh

Anyway I'm building a new NAS now and definitely not watching review videos for every single component and researching all the mtbf factors for the drives

@adhdjesse Sometimes I don't even open the package once it's here.......
@adhdjesse OH my that sounds too much like me 🫠
@adhdjesse Or in my case, don’t even open the shipping box and then trip on it every single day as I leave my home for the rest of my life.
