Texas measles outbreak update: 124 cases, 18 hospitalized, & now the first death of a child, who was not vaccinated.

Tragic, preventable, & a direct consequence of the deadly lies spread by anti-vaxx grifters, one of whom is now the most powerful health official in the US.

@luckytran I find it shocking that parents can legally choose not to vaccinate their kids against diseases that can be deadly or disabling. It seems like it falls under the same area as refusing to get a kid available medical care.
@distinctm1nd @luckytran I find it shocking that parents can legally choose take their kids in cars, give them huge amounts of sugar...Many more kids die for these reasons than from measles.
@charogg @luckytran you could argue that it wouldn't be possible to function in society without being in a car so that is a necessary risk. I'm holding back further comment on vaccines in this case because I don't know the specifics, such as, did they have a condition that prohibited them to get a vaccine. If they did not have a condition that prohibited vaccines then I still argue it's negligent to forgo vaccines. I think we'll see the day (sooner than later) where kids are disabled by preventable diseases and sue their parents as adults.
