Being bitterly opposed to a person is just as much a part of their cult of personality as lavishing praise on them, or fearing and obeying them, and so on. As long as the focus is the same person, one way or another, the cult is maintained. And of course, they produce counter-cults (celebrity activists in Hollywood, Feel the Bern, Corbynism, etc).

As Navalnaya says, it's not about who they are - on either side - but about what they're *doing*. What we're *all* doing.
