Friday sysadmin stuff:

- finished the installation of RHEL9 on my homelab
- added the forgejo-runner to both machines, so they can now build stuff straight from my source repositories
- ran a few bigger build jobs to see how the machines handle stuff (TL;DR no problem, fast build)
- updated and rebooted all my servers, not just the ones in my cute homelab
- must now plan for the final placement of the 10” rack

I think it was a good #RechargeDay #LifeAtRedHat

(Every quarter we Red Hatters get a day to do whatever we feel like. Fully paid. You can sleep in, go on a hike, visit friends and family, build stuff — you decide. Today is #RechargeDay for Q1/25)
And as I got asked a few times: here's the hardware inventory list of the cute homelab, with links to detailed info on every part. https://codeberg.org/jwildeboer/gists/src/branch/main/2025/20250221HomelabInv.md

gists - A collection of short notes on specific little things that are good to store and share but not enough for a blog entry. Mostly geeky stuff.

@jwildeboer is the date of your choosing?
At Unity we get 5 per year. Can have entire week off, if you want to. 5 extra vacation days essentially, except they do not transfer to next year ( in countries where vacation days do transfer), use it or lose it.
@aurisc4 The dates are fixed and announced well in advance. This is to make sure we all have no excuse to look at our emails etc. It also helps some of us to do something together :)
@jwildeboer I had great fun with 2h of scarifying and then 4h of top dressing and reseeding our lawn [that the kids play football on]. No build systems, politics, power struggles or issue trackers -- and it was glorious. I ache from every muscle, but feel so much happier!
@jwildeboer We had this in VMware too. Really nice. Have fun.
