I've not used #XMPP yet as it's less user friendly. But the idea of bridging SMS with XMPP is interesting one. And I've watched the NBTV video and I know about the #Calyx hotspot since Henry from #Techlore uses it. But unfortunately I am not based in the U.S.

#sms4you shouldn't be usable only in the US. Or do I misunderstand?

On a side note: I've always wondered what people mean when they say "XMPP is less user friendly" - a specific app they don't like (but could use another)? Obviously not the XMPP protocol?
Not at all meant to be derogatory.

I meant the #Calyx hotspot. It's only available in some selective part of the world as of now.
And I haven't dived deep into #XMPP. Last time I checked was 2/3 years ago and didn't come across any client that seemed very smooth. Something like #Element, a #Matrix client, is seemingly more convenient to use than any XMPP client I know. Although it has metadata issue

Re. metadata: good point. Seems to be one negative issue with XMPP, Matrix and possibly other federated protocols. Presumably hard to change (?).
