It's Soooo 4D@mathcolorstrees you can note your rental phone number, cancel you Airbnb reservation, and book with the rental directly.

@so4D @staustellsimon This is a real issue. But I try to go for places that have really high ratings. Unfortunately it excludes new listings. I imagine hosts can do the same if the renter’s rating is visible. Is that not the case?
@mathcolorstrees @so4D the two guests I’ve had serious troubles from, both had high ratings and still do, despite some questionable reviews. Really odd. We’re encouraged to use Instant Book, that has some protection should we not like the reviews etc
@staustellsimon @mathcolorstrees in my experience, reviews are not really significant, unless it's really bad.
@so4D @mathcolorstrees as a host, there is a sense of not wanting to be too truthful, as after all, they know where you live, so it's more what we don't say than what we do. The first troublesome guest, we didn't leave a review, the 2nd and really bad guest we did, and despite AirBnB having to pay out, they are still on the platform, still making bookings and getting more (positive) reviews. I guess they just didn't like us and took it out on our property. They didn't leave us a review which surprised us.
@staustellsimon @mathcolorstrees same here , I had 2 terrible experiences 1 as a guest and 1 as a hosts. As a guest, it was actually on booking.com. It was à scam. Booking.com fully supported the host until the end, they are still renting, we lost 400€ and à terrible travel experience, and no legal action possible, while the ad was illegal. That's why I hate these platforms and will try to find other ways.
