I wish the solution didn’t revolve around a private surgery, but many doctors I talked with in Germany refused to operate a torn ligament and told me to forget about the nerve. It’s been the most frustrating experience I ever had.

I have surgery on Wednesday, and I have to admit I’m a bit nervous about it. The past months have been rough talking to many professionals that bounced me through the system without providing answers until I could find a private neurosurgeon that accepted to take on the surgery.

@pedro I wish you all the best for your surgery!
@pedro How’d it go? Which ligament? Going through same situation here in NL.
@pietsous the doctor ended up focusing on the peroneal nerve. My LCL was torn and the state of the ACL is still to be checked. What’s your situation?
@pedro Ah I see. I tore my UCL in my right hand a year ago already. Doctors opted for conservative rehabilitation - I knew it wouldn’t do anything. Eventually agreed to operate but waiting times are like 5 months here. In South Africa I would have had this sorted out months ago, and recovered.

@pietsous Right? Germany was a bit like that. They suggested to follow the model of a German football player who played his entire life without ligaments. I was like... WTF. I got my surgery (and paid for it) here:

As I said, in my case the damage in the nerve was more severe, so finding someone that would know and dare to tackle it was a bit difficult.
