Keeping with the #LoveData25 theme, "Whose Data Is It, Anyway?", we're revisiting a Science story on Indigenous data sovereignty. The Global Indigenous Data Alliance is reshaping data sharing, protecting communities' rights while enabling research progress.
As COS's Nici Pfeiffer noted, "Data should be as open as possible, and as closed as necessary" because "the risk is that [Indigenous data] is being misused or mishandled in a way that doesn't protect its sovereignty."
