@blogdiva I really, really want to come up with a term to replace "America" as a shorthand for "The United States of America".
Once we settle on something, I could start using it in Issuepedia and HTYP (although both will require a lot of renaming, with the software in its present sad state :-P).
petition to replace references to "America" (meaning the United States thereof) with the term "MidNorAmerica" or "MidNorAm" meaning the middle part of North America because it's between Mexico (SouNorAm) and Canada (NorNorAm) but hasn't had the decency to come up with a proper name for itself Alternative: Usam, USAm (or USoAm except that might be read as "United South America", so maybe not)
it's just Estados Unidos in Spanish, United States in English. that's just it. calling USA, America, is normalized Manifest Destiny propaganda.
@blogdiva I guess there aren't currently any other "United States of"s anywhere else in the world (though there have been historically, according to Wikipedia) -- it seems still a bit rude to allow USA to forever claim "United States".
...kinda like claiming .gov, and everyone else has to use .gov.[your country's TLD here], I guess. This kind of nonsense needs to stop.
...so I was hoping to come up with something more in line with, you know, "Canada" or "Mexico". A single word that isn't a dictionary word and also isn't the name of another country somewhere, past or present.
