i dont want to spoil anyone's well-earned trump-hate, but people have been pushing the US govt to eliminate the penny since at *least* the early 1980s.

by now, inflation means probably *no* coins are worth producing. this sucks for me personally because i loved coins! they were much easier for me than a wallet of identical papers.

but the dollar coin never got traction except at train stations, and most americans stopped carrying *any* coins by 2010. it's over.

The concept of a coin only being worth that coins value has been debunked many times. Coins are reused time and time over as our bills... One could think of a penny being worth however many times the penny is exchanged, not just one cent.
