@sfrazer434 @numericcitizen @daringfireball Called it!
Countdown to @[email protected]’s obvious sarcasm in post https://daringfireball.net/linked/2025/02/12/apple-advertising-x being taken as non-sarcastic #Apple #Musk #Xitter commentary: 3 … 2 … 1 …
Disappointed, but not surprised given the mapping fiasco. More power to the EU and Indonesia.
@daringfireball I guess it’s kind of obvious why, though still extremely disappointing.
Do anything to upset either Musk or Trump and you’re looking at an epic legal nightmare with judges that apparently no longer follow the rule of law.
@daringfireball Just days after Apple decided to roll out worldwide the renaming of the Golf of Mexico, and not just for US citizens, this action is disappointing, upsetting, and mostly concerning.
Where does it stop? Where is the line?
Can Apple be trusted anymore?
Is it time to launch boycott campaigns against it and pressure them back to do the right thing? Should advertisers continue to buy ads in Apple’s network? Should we cancel some services from it and look for alternatives?
That's all you have to know about Apple's principles and integrity.
They are exactly the same as any other corporation's.
@daringfireball They're doing what corporations normally do, which is doing what they think is best for their bottom line.
Apple has always been a bit more value-driven than the majority of the tech industry (comparing it to Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, etc), but ultimately they're operating in the same context and chasing the same incentives as everybody else. So not really surprised by any of this.
