The first in office appointment with my new family doctor has just been booked for this Friday morning. I have the first appointment of the day & the doctor has assured me that he & staff will be masked up, as I've requested 😷⚕️
I tend to ask for first slot of the morning when booking medical appointments - to avoid running into a bunch of unmasked patients in waiting rooms.

I'll be asking if he will consider taking on my youngest brother as a new patient too because that bro still doesn't have a family doctor. He's been on the government waitlist for 2+ years.

I'm off to get mammogram now & then working on updating client files all afternoon. Remote(safer) work today 👍

Covid related. I got into a verbal spat with a longtime friend from up island over kids repeatedly getting sick at her small daycare, run from her home. At least 3 kids have been arriving sick every week for over 2 months & she says it's normal when it's not. None of the parents are masking, they stopped some time ago. The kids are just getting sick repeatedly.

@PhoenixSerenity ugh when did this become normal? it's not! nor is it normal just to go around infecting people with whatever. it used to be that people would say, "i'm sick / my kid is sick, shall we cancel our plans so as not to make you sick too?" but now it's just ... people think that they're entitled to germ everyone!

@moonrabbit I'm really sick of hearing that multiple rounds of getting sick in one year alone helps kids build up their immunity. No. You're exposing kids to multiple disabilities, secondary illnesses & possible death. That's not in any child's best interests, nor their parents either.

@moonrabbit One of the former friends, whom I had to remove from my life, is disabled with neurological & immuno illnesses. She fell into some holistic cult-like thinking, stopped masking & won't listen to reason. She has flown to multiple overseas holiday spots every other month, unmasked & comes back sick every single time. Doesn't test but always says it's not covid 🙄
I can't be around anyone like that anymore.

and this boggles my mind: i'm *very* into the holistic thinking, but i also acknowledge covid's existence and try to stay the hell away from it! i know it's a thing — "alternative" people being like she is — but i just don't get it.

but then, i don't get a lot of things.

@moonrabbit I'm the same. I believe in holistic treatments for many things. I know they don't cure covid or long covid. I'd rather not get covid at all.

I have some shirttail relations that have this sort of outlook. The young mother was just admitted to the hospital for pneumonia from a case of RSV that came immediately after her fight with the flu. Also, possibly meningitis.

Apparently raw milk and elderberry syrup don't solve everything. 🙄

Yeah, I don't have much respect for the views on that side of the family, but people with more patience and qualifications than I can't seem to reach them. If they won't listen to their retired nurse grandmother, I certainly don't have any sway.

The last several months have seen so much illness in my studio, and kids ill to the point of not being able to have a lesson online which is new, and still no one is taking precautions.. except me, of course.
