Gaah, how do you deal with general feeling of "everything's shit"?

The work thing I used to love and felt like it was impactful (Unity) has been going downhill for many years, and so far does not look like it wants to stop going downhill.

What I dabble with now (Blender) feels useful, but I'm too afraid to take on more impactful areas/work/responsibilities.

And then, everything outside of "just ye olde coding" feels like it is going to shit.

Argh!

@aras How much of the "going to shit" is impacting your own everyday life in a tangible way here and now? I mean, if you stopped using the Internet and reading the news, how much of the "going to shit" would you still perceive? I'm genuinely asking, because I don't know your situation. In mine, I'm fortunate that a lot of it is only via Internet and news, and I'm very deliberately curating how I consume that in order to minimize the negative impact on my well-being.

@runevision @aras If you're on the Titanic, and you know it's hit the iceberg, but the deck is still level and the lights are still on, well, you're not impacted so you might as well keep re-arranging the deck chairs... Or, you could acknowledge the reality that ship will be sinking very soon and plan accordingly.

So is the question of how much it's impacting you right now really relevant? Shouldn't we be asking instead how likely it is to impact you in the near future?

@cifram @aras Here or now, or near future… I don’t want to split hairs over where exactly to draw the line. Plan for things you think it makes sense to plan for, of course. My impression was that the original post was more about subjects where one feels powerless.
