Meta is now valued at $1.8 trillion.

Mark Zuckerberg is the world's second richest person. Yet Mark authorized stealing books and other media to train AI. He says an individual's work such as books or videos doesn’t matter. Then why did you steal them? Meta also removed fact-checkers and enabled attacks on minorities and ended DEI policies. Meta just announced firing 3,600 employees. You are 2nd richest person with zero moral compass.

@nixCraft

Lizard-people aren't known for their emotions or ethics.
@nixCraft He never had a moral compass to begin with…
@TomDB @nixCraft stole the concept to begin with and paid off the originator with peanuts.
@nixCraft nobody with that amount of wealth has a moral compass really. It can only be obtained by exploiting others, be it customers/end users, employees etc.

@nixCraft

This money is not more than funny money. For everyone who takes place in this game.

@nixCraft not defending him, but I was searching for a book the other day and came across publicly open FTP with thousands and thousands books at some university in India. Most of the books were English.
@nixCraft It honestly disgusts me that 99% of people don't care enough to delete their #facebook, #instagram & #whatsapp accounts to stop funding this evil atrocity of a company. There are now great alternatives that didn't exist even na year ago, and pretty much everyone I know constantly complains about how crap these apps have become, yet nobody makes any effort to try something else.
Normies suck so bad.
@nixCraft didn't just download them but worked vigorously to cover up what they had done. And let's not forget that meta loses their shit the moment that you dare to infringe on any of their copyright. How many projects out there have been scuttled because Meta attorneys came knocking.
@thegorf @nixCraft what meta copyright
@jenzi I'm not sure what you are asking. Meta holds extensive copyrights and trademarks that they enforce viciously.

@thegorf Trademarks, sure you can't call yourself facebook. Same question: What copyrighted works do they own?

EDIT: "How many projects out there have been scuttled because Meta attorneys came knocking." You said that. I'm curious because I never heard of Facebook shuttering a project for copyright violations ever.

Just hate them, don't question it
@nixCraft The more I read about rich people, the more I feel like wealth is a ball made of iron that grows until its size almost matches the moon, but their moral compass remains standard issue sized.

@nixCraft I'm seeing more and more use of the word "moral" lately, in many contexts and arguments.

The absence of a thing can really highlight it's value.

@nixCraft @briankrebs Alternative headline: Bootlicker licks the right boots to further his own interests and his company's fortunes.
@nixCraft well how do you think he got rich? Moral compasses are a boat anchor for wealth
@nixCraft and, what are you gonna do about it??...

@nixCraft oh, make no mistake, he has a moral compass.

It's just pointing to the reich.

Ahem, I mean right.

(Oh, and let's not forget he retains absolute control of a 'publicly traded' company through super-voting shares.)

@nixCraft 😮‍💨 Victory was so close.
@nixCraft having a moral compass makes it impossible to become that rich.
@nixCraft He's only worth what we're willing to allow him to harvest for free. Log out, uninstall, cancel, unsubscribe, do not buy.
@nixCraft
#fuckzuck must really enjoy that he gets way less attention thanks to the attention being given to musk... even though they are BOTH the same piece of shit in our world.
@nixCraft I mean to be honest at some point you have to throw morals out the window to make more money this is why rich people in the US are the most hated because they just stopped caring about being a good person
@nixCraft
Well, imho that is letting regular consumers off the hook a little too easily.
All this is only possible because consumers aswell don’t seem to care about such immoral behaviour.
Zucki and others are very bad apples, but if ppl would start making better and more moral decisions (and avoid such companies), this could end.
It’s on us, media and civil groups to inform ppl and potentially even push for legislation where needed etc…
@nixCraft what is this surge credibly based on?!
@nixCraft achieving massive wealth requires any of those piffling concerns.
@nixCraft That's how you amass wealth. Throw your moral compass out and do everything, regardless of how immoral, unethical, or downright evil it is, all in the name of number go up.
@Grae8672 @nixCraft China seems to manage while being more moral... maybe we should look to them
@holden @nixCraft @Grae8672 we should copy their whole work camp/death camp thing
@nixCraft Did he ever have any morals?
@nixCraft seeing how (and why) he founded Facebook, his moral compass has been completely broken for very long indeed...

@nixCraft

Get off owned social. Period.

@nixCraft sounds like you can take all the old jokes about lawnmowers and anthropomorphizing Larry Ellison, and put the name of the current crop of billionaire.

Of course the Zuck doesn't have a *moral* compass, the only compass the Zuck has is pointing at how make even more outrageous wada of cash while crushing everything on the way.

@nixCraft i’m moving away from Meta. The last 3 weeks my timeline (location Europe, The Netherlands) exploded into anti lhbtq/woke/vegan/climate posts, pro trump/musk/zuck and pure deep fascism. It’s completely insane. And scary. Normally i could “train” my algorithm but that isn’t possible anymore. Even when i report & block nonstop.

@nixCraft I started using Facebook a couple years before the time of the left edge of the chart above, when it was mostly a place where friends and family posted silly things and pretty trip photos, and the stock price was about $30.

I stopped using it actively in 2019, by which time the service was much less pleasant -- chock full of ads, spam, misinformation, and right-wing rage-aholics -- and the stock price was about $200.

I deleted my account at the beginning of 2025, by which time the service was even worse than in 2019 and about as pleasant to use as performing do-it-myself corneal surgery with a dull spork, and the stock price was over $600 and rising fast.

One share of dull-utensil-surgery FB buys more than 20 shares of actually useful and pleasant to use FB. Please make it make sense.

@nixCraft Meta is responsible for allowing their platform to be used to instigate a genocide in Myanmar.
@nixCraft why would he change, when he can destabilize democracies around the world, spread lies and hate, and people will still use the site? If a significant number of people quit using it, I guarantee you'll see a change. The same cannot be said of xitter, but leon has different goals.
@nixCraft I dumped my meta platforms after Zuck paid Congress to kill Tik Tok.
