Don't do what they tell you to.

Don't do what you *think* they're going to tell you to.

Find reasons to delay.

Find reasons why "it won't work."

Do it slightly wrong, just enough to make it almost work but not.

Do it half-assed in a way that makes it look like you're actually putting in your full effort.

When they want something, make that thing mysteriously disappear.

Smile, nod, ignore.

For the love of all that's good and true and right in this universe, BE FUCKING UNGOVERNABLE.

Once in a while, unpredictably, do what you think they want you to do but guess right enough for them to think you were trying to be helpful but wrong enough that time is wasted going back to square one. Like the guy who accidentally puts diesel in the petrol tank or the one who starts a full system virus scan five minutes before the workstations are needed.

@courtcan
The unpredictability is key. If you can predict that somebody is going to be a hindrance you can work around them, sideline them, get rid of them. If you don't know when, where or if a problem may arise the whole process is at risk.

I've learned about mulish anticompliance from the other end, I had to coax a public library service kicking and screaming into the late twentieth century,
@courtcan @lisamelton Lots of great references around for utilzing strategic incompetence as both a defensive AND offensive strategy - both in the military and elsewhere.
