The only living snakes I get to see are the Storeria dekayi who live in the park across the street. It's the only snake that lives in NYC where there are dense apartments. (and then still only in the parks with underground streams)
There are garter snakes in some of the outer regions too.
(And since people will wonder, dekayi are not venomous, and frankly would struggle to break your skin. They are small #snakes that eat slugs, earthworms and snails.)
This is a beautiful snake to be "over there" they aren't very aggressive are they?
@futurebird they're pretty timid, not aggressive at all. I think they're beautiful, but they make me nervous. And my granddaughter found one recently so we spent some time memorizing "Red touches yellow, kills a fellow. Red touches black, venom lack".

Passed thru so many stages that it started to become common, way to common to be sincere.
Came to the conclusion that they (maybe all) are not aggressive, in any case passive aggressive. Like defending when there is no other choice anymore.
Adults actually don't even "waste' their venome, they nned that for the prey.

The point is that their venom act's locally so you have time to see a doctor. The problem is the #medicalCoverage in #latinAmerica. Over here that's not a problem tho. And the data is kinda "from the past", things change.
#Drones could be a good solution for first aid. Any #veterinary can solve this!
