the people caping for OpenAI, etc, right now are forgetting a couple of important things.

1) of course I'm not going to try to use DeepSeek to research the 1976 tangshan earthquake or the 1950 invasion of tibet. firstly, i have access to these things called "books" and "the internet". Even if I was going to use an LLM I wouldn't expect any one to be any better than the books or one publisher or the research of one author.

2) China doesn't have any sovereignty over the UK. if I ask DeepSeek for advice about how to date sweaty muscular guys I don't give a shit if it president xi himself opens a dossier on me, he can't touch me. whereas a minister in trump's government has personally threatened to invade the uk, hang our elected MP's and install a quisling gauleiter. and the US is _very_ anti LGBT right now.

don't go telling me any more of this sinophobic shit, we should be doing everything possible to reduce US soft power and attack primary US industries.

or as I just told someone else

no chinese spyware thank you πŸ–οΈ πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³
only good honest spyware from the USA for me  πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

silly journalist: deepseek is explicitly sending US data directly to china 😱

serious shitposter: deepseek is explicitly jerking me off and sending the cum directly to president xi πŸ™€

DeepSeek is an anagram of "Peed Seek", coincidence?

the bad news, is US stocks have a lot further to fall before the AI bubble has deflated.

the good news, is US stocks have a lot further to fall before the AI bubble has deflated.

congratulations everyone. i've just had my opinion column published in The Guardian.

"It's worse than we thought, Chinese LLM isn't just collecting data, it's reading the data and learning from it πŸ™€ "

you shouldn't use chinese tech because it's heavily censored and supports a state which has a terrible human rights record.

time to take a big sip of coffee and use youtube/twitter/facebook to report on latest ICE raids/diy hrt/which horse medicines are safe to use for an abortion

millions in the uk are in daily fear of homelessness, millions are already on zero-hours contracts or employment terms which are legally identical except for very minor technicalities, millions are in fear of the government reneging on major human rights legislation, millions already experiencing such backtracking.

the government fortunately is going to deal with insecurity

real insecurity?

no, it's always the fear that president xi is going to reach through your free vpn and jerk you off.

starmer commitment to massive public spending on new data centres already aging as well as a mackerel down the back of a radiator

p.s. if you want to automate some of your tasks in the office just keep a text document of replies you frequently give over email.

Just published my column "DeepSeek's algorithm works off other AI output creating what people in tech circles are calling 'slop' 😱"

another tough day as The Guardian's technology editor 😩

thanks to openAI for helping me write today's column πŸ˜„

honestly, a text document of things you frequently e-mail is so useful. especially when the search function on stuff (including my work's email provider) frequently breaks. i wouldn't be able to waste this much time on masto without it.

why have gen AI re-research it's bullshit answer when you can already have the right answer at your fingertips.

boosting thread because reddit banned all uses of the word luigi, even in the context of nintendo
