@PeriwinkleBluejay Absolutely! And scribbling instead of staying inside the lines is totally cathartic :-)
I was a child who loved shopping for pens and pencils and even notebooks. My different sets of colored pencils, markers, pastels and crayons are some of my most satisfying possessions lol
@PeriwinkleBluejay I don't know those pens but many of my old favorites got discontinued over the years. I grew attached to certain brands, even at a young age lol.
My Mom never looked at my artwork even once so good on you for paying attention! But my Father, who was in textile manufacturing for ladies clothing, used a few of my abstract drawings for dress fabric lol
@PeriwinkleBluejay There had been a photo but everything I owned burned in a house fire several years back. It wasn't traumatic because I don't feel any real attachment to stuff, but I did lose everything from my first 25 years- truly everything bec I have no living relatives
I'm so glad you encourage your daughter's creativity but it sounds like you're creative too! I hope you're still drawing if not making clothes anymore. What a fantastic skill to have! Did your Mom teach you?
@3x10to8mps First Iām so sorry to hear about the fire. Even though you donāt have a huge attachment to things, itās still hard to lose everything. Memories never leave us while we live, so you still have those memories but from a practical standpoint, starting over is always hard.
Iāve moved around a lot, so I travel light. So from that viewpoint I understand.
I was lucky enough to grow up in an era when a lot of people made their own clothes. We didnāt have malls and we sure didnāt have Amazon! We had fabric stores and patterns. I enjoyed āHome Ecā in school, cooking and sewing classes and between that and my mother, who was talented, I learned rudimentary skills. But I had a lot of fun. This was in the early 70ās. Hard to believe it was about 50 years ago now.
@PeriwinkleBluejay Thank you for your empathy š«¶
Do you still have your homemade clothing? Why did you stop? Did you teach your daughter?
@PeriwinkleBluejay That sounds fantastic! I loved velour when I was thinner haha
And life is long - you never know lol. So long as you let your creative juices flow, the how is less important š«
Yes definitely I agree. As the saying and the song go āto everything there is a seasonā.
I used to do a lot of cross-stitch too. But I gave all of it away. Now I donāt have the patience for it anymore.
Heading to bed now. Sweet dreams, wherever you are!
