On #SaturnDay here’s “Quake”. This is a 1997 port of I’d Software’s infamous PC first person shooting game, with conversion duties handled by Lobotomy Software & published by #Sega. The #Saturn version has four additional levels not in the PC original, plus coloured lighting effects.

@Unclear_User how does it compare to the PC other than the new levels? Which is the definitive editon to play?
@theogjagg oh, always go PC, no question. The Saturn port is excellent - it runs fast, has the extra levels and the colour lighting effects, but it all runs at a lower resolution with lower quality textures.
@Unclear_User is the saturn port 30fps or 60fps? PC always is the way to go. I'm just curious how this port holds up. I didn't know Quake was on the Saturn tbh
@theogjagg I’m actually not sure, but I’m pretty certain it’s not 60fps. It must be around 30fps give or take.
@Unclear_User Yeah, 30fps makes more sense. Sometimes, you got dev teams who realized that fps is import. A good example is f-zero x on the n64. It's not a super graphically intense game, but it runs a smooth 60fps with minor slowdowns. Which is amazing for the 64 and I'd much rather prefer. I think the game looks great anyways
