The amount of ads cycling on Fextralife - sh.itjust.works

These 2 screenshots are 1 minute apart, after leaving the tab open on the Steam web browser. I was showing a friend that they started putting banner ads between comments now, and then more popped up. Reminds me of ROM sites in the early 2000s. It looks like you’re looking up a wiki page for items. My experience is that usually – with the exception of a very few games that set their own up – the best game wiki is on fandom.com.

For the item that you’re looking up there:

eldenring.fandom.com/wiki/Staff_of_the_Avatar

Staff of the Avatar

Staff of the Avatar is a melee armament found in Elden Ring. Dropped by an Erdtree Avatar near the Great Waterfall Crest grace located in Deeproot Depths.

Fandom is garbage and if you make the mistake of using in on mobile is borderline unusable because of ads.

Here’s an extension to find wikis and avoid fextra/fandom garbage. getindie.wiki

Stop using Fandom

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

YouTube
It doesn’t appear to list any Elden Ring wiki. Does it have one?
If you can’t find one googling with those extension I would just go without as opposed to given either of those cesspools traffic. eldenring.wiki.gg/wiki/Staff_of_the_Avatar
Staff of the Avatar

Staff of the Avatar is a melee armament found in Elden Ring. Ceremonial staff depicting the Erdtree in its historic radiance. Wielded by the avatars who protect the Minor Erdtrees. The avatars, emerging in the wake of the Elden Ring's shattering, were determined to protect the withering Erdtree's offspring...

Literally half my phone screen is an ad over the main content. Fandom is indeed garbage.
Some wikis are independent or in a wiki farm that allows a high degree of customization like mirahaze and skywiki.
The only reason the Fextralife wiki exists is because they use it to inflate their twitch channel viewercounts and channel metrics for sponsors with the embedded stream on every page(Unless twitch finally fixed this loophole). The entire business model of Fextralife is literally farming ad revenue so this doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Those game wikis are basically the only ones I use an adblocker on. They’re basically unusable on mobile.
If you haven’t been using an adblocker since the early 2000’s, but actually remember what it was like back then… Why?
Haha, I would never do that to myself. I just get a quick glimpse of the bare 'net when I try the web browser built into Steam. My DNS is mostly filtering telemetry right now, while I leave the bulk of the blocking to uBlock Origin.
Ublock origin is your friend…
I have fextralife black listed. I don’t know what their game is but it feels fake. Long winded introductions with little substance and recently ai slop.
