This is for people in the US, if you are sharing information on #ICE #immigration sweeps, intervening, or just being there to witness, you need to lock your phone with a password and not with biometrics. Police need a warrant to unlock your phone with a password but not with biometrics.

@heathen_cat alternatively learn and practice the magic handshake that disables biometrics:
- on iOS: pressing and holding either volume button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously for 2 seconds and then pressing Cancel.
- on Android: press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons, then press lockdown

Some more secure mobile OSes like GrapheneOS even have a magic distress PIN code that triggers an emergency wipe of your device instead of unlocking it.

On how to lock the phone with password (might want to add it to your post):
Android: Long press power button and choose "Lockdown" (customized ROMs may differ)
iOS: Quick repeated pressing of side button more than 5 times, until iOS SOS feature showed up on screen.

To prevent someone using forensics technologies from unlocking your phone, shutdown the phone when someone walks to you. Your disk encryption key is immediately expunged from phone RAM in seconds. iOS (but NOT Android!!!) 5 fast press also works in this case. Most of the Android phones also needs a complex password (instead of PIN) to protect your phone from password bruteforce.
