- Introduce new plane where the blue-aligned humanoids are Vedalken instead of Merfolk
- Don't print any Vedalken typal cards, ever
- Players haven't really connected with Vedalken when we return to the plane because there's no Vedalken deck
- Introduce secret clade of Merfolk who have been hiding on the plane the whole time, honest.
- Print Merfolk typal cards.
- People just like Merfolk more than Verdalken, for some unfathomable reason

If there were Merfolk hiding on Esper the whole time too, I'm going to scream.
@Fruan This is definitely the dinner with Gavin effect happening, which I know makes me sound insane, but the prof eats with WotC, and so WotC makes sure his favorite kindred eats.
@Fruan give me a Legendary Homarid, you cowards!

@RethinkJeff @bo_brinkman More of that flavour text about having maybe always been lurking under the sea. It's probably nothing...
@bo_brinkman Now I'm imagining a bar for abandoned Blue humanoids, with a Homarid, a Vedalken and a Cephalid morosely getting drunk together.
@Fruan @bo_brinkman I am so, so mad about Cephalid erasure T_T
@RethinkJeff @Fruan I didn't even know they had been Octopused. :( Poor dears.
@Fruan I feel like the person who wrote that flavor text was also the person who designed Thunder Junction
@Fruan I was wondering when merfolk got to mirrodin
@Talen_Lee Eh. Every living thing on Mirrodin was pulled from somewhere else. I always thought the weird thing was that there weren't Merfolk on Mirrodin.
@Fruan I feel like the vedalken were far more interesting as four-armed techno-wizards than whatever they are normally. Just blue humanoids?

@BluJBird @Fruan on Mirrodin, they have four arms. On Avishkar, they have six fingers. On Ravnica, ... *shrug*

I've always just read them as WotC Vulcans, but I don't have anything to back that up other than the only one who has ever mattered, Dovin Baan.
