@endofline Just in case anyone needs to know this (I meet a lot of XMPP-haters who last used it in year 2000 and think it never progressed) - #XMPP has a number of fairly usable end-to-end encryption protocols, including PGP and OMEMO. The latter is built on the same double ratchet algorithm as #Signal and #Matrix, and is supported by all major clients.
Sure, the UI/UX could be improved. It's FOSS, and doesn't have the double-edged sword of VC funding - patches/donations welcome!
