"Why, Hark?" Margareet sputtered, spitting up blood, trying to form words as her mind and body tumbled down the proverbial #rabbit_hole.
“Well, these are just the infractions you were called on. How many times I wonder have you actually broken the rules of the Guilds prior?"

"Why, Hark?" Margareet sputtered, spitting up blood, trying to form words as her mind and body tumbled down the proverbial #rabbit_hole. “Well, these are just the infractions you were called on. How many times I wonder have you actually broken the rules of the Guilds prior?" She couldn’t answer of course, her back to the wall now, fumbling her ornate dagger with numb fingers. The spoils she took from her last mission, it clattered to the floor sliding to his feet. It still reaked of the foul necromancers magic, making his nose wrinkle. "Lor~ Shellk," she slurred angrily. "The Lord Salkie was a cruel monster," Harken finished for her. He nodded in agreement, "A slayer of the innocent, vial to the core, literally, inhuman waste. But he followed the rules. He never stepped beyond the edge of his domain, he took prisoners and gave the standard ultimatums to the Guild to allow time for guilds to call adventurers to action. His minions shared no such protection as he, and so you were free to murder every one of his people to your hearts content. But Salkie surrendered to you when you bested his monsters, and rescued your precious sister. Who I might add, was also in dereliction of her duties going after him in the first place." He read the letter from the guild again, "Eight minor infractions, eight! Eight warnings against breaking further rules. Did you not think sooner or later the guild would not act? Four minor infractions make a strike you stupid child! Killing Salkie while he was in your custody was another strike. Three strikes," he looked down at her sadly. She stared up at him with wide eyes. "Ar~ yo, go~," crimson tears dripped freely as she spit up her words. Harken had to think a moment, "Going to kill you? Well, what would you do? I have been your partner on six of these missions you incurred penalties. I am guilty by association. The murder of that vile prick proved you could not follow Guild Law." "Ba~ hee~ argghhh," it was clear she was terrified. She looked a horrible mess, eyes streaming with tears ruining her makeup. Harken walked over and picked her up, tossing her onto the bed, "The guild alone is not the problem." He held up the letter, and the two other things that had come with it so she could see them. The first a warrant for her arrest. The second, a death mark. The warrant was from her own guild and read, "Hunters Wolf & Hound, want you dead, or alive to face judgement for breaking contract." And, the second note was from his guild, "But, killers Viper & Crow, want you made an example of." The venom paralyzing her was not enough, the fit young woman was already coming around, her body fighting it off. Her speech coming back slightly as she sobbed. "Plea-se~ Hark. I~ I am~ s-sorry." He nodded, he knew she was, knew she didn't do what she did to break the rules. She was only human. He pet her cheek, "I have always hated your advances on me. Not because I am not attracted. But because you are such a reckless woman." #vss365
