Probably crazy question... And I realize this is going to sound bougie as hell.

You know how they have tailors who will make a bespoke suit? Is there any equivalent like this for cobblers, to get like bespoke boots?

You know, they would measure their customer's feet, work with them on choices of style and leather material and soles, then presto... You have boots that perfectly fit what you are looking for?

(Context: many of you have seen that I wear the same pair of dark green Dr Marten boots pretty much all the time and I have worn these literally since college. I've had them repaired and re-soled probably half a dozen times or more. I love them, but they may finally be on their way out. And this style of boot, the Zachary boot, has long since been discontinued. It has this plush soft interior that is an absolute dream.)

@deviantollam

I don't know any bespoke cobblers to suggest but I'm given to understand that Solovair bought up a lot of the old DM lasts.

P.S. Nothing bourgeois about boots you plan to use until the leather itself gives up.

@Fuzz_Ra I bought a pair of Solovairs, yes, but they were very uncomfortable on my feet. Fit wasn't accommodating and they just never really broke in.

Ultimately, @Tarah turned them into motorcycle boots.

I'll try to go back and re-stretch them one day. But, honestly, any boots I would really want for life would have that same large ripple Vibram sole.

@deviantollam @Fuzz_Ra @Tarah Interesting because I spent the money for the Solovairs and had the same experience. The construction is very nice but the proportions are off. Had to size up to get my toes not to be crushed but then the upper is just way too big. Didn't make any sense.
