Jack Smith report confirms Donald Trump engaged in an 'unprecedented criminal effort' after losing the 2020 election and DOJ would’ve secured a criminal conviction.

Thank you Garland for failing to do your one job, and thank you Biden for failing to replace Garland when you knew he was a failure.

@QasimRashid This is shameful. You are here quite clearly implying that it was the job of the Attorney General to put the Republican candidate for president in prison quickly, so that, presumably, he would be unable to run.

That is what they do in places like RUSSIA.

It is NOT the job of a United States Attorney General, and anyone who thinks it is, and is also a lawyer, is a public menace.

@chemoelectric @QasimRashid At that point Trump was not a candidate for president, he was a private citizen who had committed very serious crimes. It's not the job of the attorney general to anticipate that a treason suspect might in future want to run for office again. He should have been treated like any other criminal suspect and swiftly prosecuted.
@chemoelectric @QasimRashid Wait, so what you are saying that if a criminal is popular with voters then it is somehow wrong to punish him for his crimes? I don't know what constitution that comes from, but it isn't the one we are supposed to use in the US.

@amerpie @chemoelectric @QasimRashid It isn't, but it's the fuel that's motored the system since before it existed. Religion, too, for that matter.

If you've got a pointed and effective way to fight it, I'm all ears.

@QasimRashid I bet Biden expects praise for all this failure, doesn't he?
@QasimRashid
Not necessarily you, but several people chided me when I pointed this out years ago, telling me that the DOJ moves in mysterious ways to complete the mission.
Yet the Felon walks free into the WH, with the assistance of the DOJ and Merrick Garland.

@QasimRashid I appreciate most of your takes, but is this helpful? If there are lessons to be learned, let’s note them and move on.

There’s too much work to do to spend effort blaming people about things are already done.

@QasimRashid I’m honestly wondering why it’s Garland that’s receiving all the vitriol and not Aileen Cannon. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I see her as a much more insideous character in all this.
