The people involved in the #HighlandLynx releases had their heart in the right place, but the releases in the wrong ones.

They oughta have released them in the central belt around #Glasgow, commuter and city suburbia where nobody would have noticed until they were well established and there are plenty of deer to munch on but few farmers to complain.

Or deep in a #windfarm estate. Hardly anybody goes into them except engineers and they don't care.

In fact, that may actually have happened already. Not saying where, but I've seen them on a windfarm road.

#ScotGov dragged its feet too long to appease #farmers the #Lairds, and #FergusEwing, and people took matters into their own hands. Just like with the #BeaverReleases. And now they are trying to get back in control, like #Canute trying to hold back the waves, but it isn't happening.

The avalanche has already started; It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

@CrypticMirror hmm, wasn't the alternative interpretation of Canute that he was intentionally showing his courtiers he could not command the waves?

@kyonshi

The motivation is irrelevant, the outcome was the same either way. As much as he commanded, Canute could not hold back the sea. Whether he was genuine in his certitude, or making a point, Canute cannot hold back the waves.

Just like a group of politicians cannot hold back the tides of change. Whether a token protest for the audience's sake, or a genuine attempt at preventing the future. It is as moot as Canute.
