TA4KHR@EA7KRC I have bought a couple of ready-made 9:1 UnUns, and they were pretty much 'rubbish construction' category, even I could do better - luckily easy to improve.
One was a slightly better ready-made 49:1 UnUn, and inspecting inside was a pleasanter surprise, with a decently large sized 'unknown' ferrite and much better construction quality.

Thank you, pretty much as I suspected. But worth asking to confirm.
A few years ago, I did buy a cheapo 9:1 unun, I think from Amazon, a qrp jobby, not great but does seem to work ok. Its going in my end fed in a few weeks till I can make a better one, hence the query.
