Great bipartisan legislation idea for the new congress:

Pass universal free breakfast and lunch in public schools.

It would cost less than one percent of what the federal government spends on education.

No hungry kids. No stigma. Higher morale. Better grades.

It's a no-brainer.

@charlotteclymer and no means testing saves big $$$$.

@charlotteclymer

Yes, but the problem is that the government can't actually solve any problems according to Republican dogma. Since this plan solves a problem, it's a non-starter. Because the government can't do that. So it won't. Therefore proving it can't.

It's all very simple.

@charlotteclymer Unfortunately, congressional Republicans are also no-brainers.
@charlotteclymer and you could take a chunk out of the obesity problem at the same time - saving all that money down the road
@charlotteclymer But, how will they learn that "There's no such thing as a Free Lunch?" #TANSTAAFL (of course I'm kidding…)and we all know that the lunch isn't "free," but how many kids actually buy their own lunch anyway? It's really a no-brainer, which should fit this Congress quite well.
@charlotteclymer here in Finland we have free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack in kindergarten/preschool and free lunch and snacks in school. That's just a pragmatic thing to do and makes things much easier for the parents.
