This has got to be the wildest "back in my days" blog post I've ever written.

Now that that one's published I'll go back to tell those lousy children to get off my lawn 👴

The Joy of Under-Engineering - Ham Vocke

Try building software using basic tools only to declutter your developer toolbox and learn which tools are worth using.

@ham Funnily enough, over the holidays I looked into building a web app (the 73rd attempt to build and maintain a blog) and quickly found myself in a rabbit hole out of React, Babel, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript. At that point I discarded what I originally planned to do and resorted to https://gohugo.io/. I’d like to think this solution is slightly less over-engineered but I might also just be lying to myself to justify what I did there.
The world's fastest framework for building websites

Hugo is one of the most popular open-source static site generators. With its amazing speed and flexibility, Hugo makes building websites fun again.

@juliusbachnick I think that's a solid choice! I'm faring ridiculously well with astro (https://astro.build) and plain old Markdown, HTML, CSS and JS myself 🙂
Astro

Astro builds fast content sites, powerful web applications, dynamic server APIs, and everything in-between.

@ham air horn will definitely be misused to get my kids‘ attention!
@chrisjarling works well as a gentle wake up method for sleepy teenagers, too 😃
