This video of a much deeper overview of the fantastical complexity of a steam engine is incredible and has massive amounts of animation. https://youtu.be/Hszu80NJ438

I love these animagraffs videos. There are several good ones
@SwiftOnSecurity I watched this a couple years ago! Thank you for the reminder because I'm about to do it again. This is the kind of quality content that keeps me on this godforsaken network.
@SwiftOnSecurity loving those old levers and knobs, not a touchscreen anywhere!

Why go through all that trouble to produce steam when you can just stick a Democrat down there and let them blow hot air?

@SwiftOnSecurity Most big cities have one or more restoration projects. Restoration can be slow and expensive - beginning with removal of the asbestos jackets that were used around the boiler.

On ours we have had to replace the tires on the wheels (big steel tires which then have to be turned on a very large lathe make sure they all have the same circumference and "profile" shape.) We've had to make new leaf springs, new bronze bearings, new tubes, and new hollow stay bolts. Lots and lots of work.

Most of these restoration groups wouldn't mind more helping hands (or donations of $$.)
